Special Education Services and SEGULA

The Jewish Education Center is committed to providing educational support for students with special needs who live and learn in our community.

Our special education consulting department offers ongoing sensitivity training workshops for educators, school personnel, and madrichim in both Jewish day school settings and congregational education settings. Teacher coaching is offered in the areas of differentiated instruction, classroom strategies, and identifying student needs.

SEGULA provides educational opportunities to families in Cleveland’s Jewish community who seek a Jewish day school education for children with special needs. SEGULA, meaning “special treasure” in Hebrew, provides vital services that ensure a meaningful and successful learning experience for the child and fellow classmates, in preschool through high school. Adaptations and educational interventions, in both Judaic and general studies, are provided by intervention specialists and classroom aides. SEGULA is a provider for both the Autism and Jon Peterson Scholarships for the Ohio Department of Education.
