Teacher Licensing

Support services are provided for professional licensure of teachers in Jewish Education Center-affiliated day schools.

The Jewish Education Center provides guidance to ensure that general studies teachers in day schools have, and maintain, Ohio teaching licenses. The Jewish Education Center works with the Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) to ensure compliance with State of Ohio Department of Education (ODE) rules and regulations. The LPDC, composed of representatives from each day school, reviews and approves license renewal applications, Individual Professional Development Plans, and associated professional development requests.

On behalf of Cleveland’s Jewish Day Schools, the Jewish Education Center coordinates the Resident Educator and mentor program required by ODE for all newly licensed teachers in Ohio. The ODE Resident Educator program requires Resident Educators to complete specific tasks under the guidance of a trained mentor and program coordinator.
