Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School Support Services

Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School supports its students by teaching differently to those who learn differently.

Gussie Singer, Director of Intervention Services

The Learning Enhancement Team (LET) supports all Mandel JDS students’ independence and achievement, in their unique academic and social emotional development, by facilitating collaboration and problem solving between teachers, parents and students. For those requiring additional specialized assistance, there are reading specialists trained in the Wilson Reading System and there are highly qualified general learning specialists who modify curricula and accommodate learning needs in our general education setting and our Judaics curriculum. Enrichment and advanced supplemental services are provided to those students whose abilities demand more complex instruction.  Mandel JDS also hosts a Segula resource room, partnering with the JEC to provide a specialized learning environment with more intense intervention.

Mandel JDS has the largest Learning Enhancement Team of any other school its size in the area. The LET team includes:

  • Early Intervention Specialists
  • Gifted and Talented Specialists
  • Speech Language Pathologist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Guidance Counselor
  • School consulting Psychologist
