Jewish Federation of Cleveland Community Options

The Community Options program under the auspices of the Jewish Federation provides the necessary program supports and services for older adults to continue to live independently in two apartment buildings in Cleveland.

Ellen Miller, Senior Director, Community Services

The Community Options program is geared towards seniors living in the community in “NORCs”, a Naturally Occurring Retirement Community, where there is a concentration of seniors that happen to be in a particular apartment building or neighborhood.

The program is a part of a national demonstration project in conjunction with the United Jewish Communities’ Washington Action office. Many communities have similar NORC programs.

A Resource Coordinator at each site organizes a variety of programs to encourage residents to socialize with each other, participate in preventative health screenings and wellness activities and take advantage of transportation services to doctors appointments, shopping and more. Activities and programs may include:

  • Flu Shots
  • Glucose Screenings
  • Blood Pressure Checks
  • Vision Screening
  • On-Site Podiatry
  • Speakers
  • Birthday Party Celebrations
  • Off-Site Trips
  • Entertainment
  • Book Reviews
  • Card Games
  • Luncheons
  • Fitness
  • Game Night
  • Movies

Note: Activities are available to on-site residents and their guests.
