Gesher Benefits and Referral Center

Gesher-Benefits and Referral Center

Gesher, a benefits referral program, was founded in 2013 to help Jewish Cleveland families access much needed support.

An initiative of Agudath Israel of Ohio, Gesher helps eliminate cultural barriers to accessing and applying for assistance programs and uses dedicated staff to help families meet the challenges of financial hardship.  It is part of a growing effort across Ohio to provide all residents with trained benefits counselors who can advise clients about the local, state, and federal benefits for which they are eligible. Any person, regardless of religious affiliation, that enters Gesher’s offices is provided assistance. It is Gesher’s aim to connect our clients with quality services, which will eventually lead to economic self-sufficiency. Gesher also provides a full scale career training and job placement service.

Navigating the inner workings of government programs poses an unnecessary strain for those already dealing with financial hardship. This is where Gesher steps in. We help eliminate the cultural barriers to accessing and applying for assistance programs. Our dedicated staff  helps our clients meet the challenges of financial difficulties.
