Preston’s H.O.P.E. Playground
Preston's H.O.P.E., a playground for children with all levels of abilities and disabilities, provides children with the opportunities to explore, play and learn. This extensive accessible playground park includes Imagination Village, with make-believe houses that are connected by a raised walkway, Play Theatre, a Sand Area and traditional playground area with swings, tunnels and slides that are appropriate for children from Preschool through School age.
It is named for Preston Fisher, a young boy with spinal SMA muscular atrophy. It was his mother, Jackie Fisher with her friend, Stacie Halpern, who raised the $3 million necessary to build the playground.
Voted “Best Park” and “Best Place To Take Kids for the Afternoon” by Macaroni Kid East website, the 60,000 square feet playground offers opportunities for kids with and without disabilities to have endless fun and learning opportunities. Preston’s H.O.P.E. playground is packed with play structures on multiple levels connected by ramps. Activity panels are found throughout on walls, pathways, and on play structures. The chance to learn Braille is scattered throughout. Other playground activities include:
