Jewish Women in Action Cleveland
Jewish Women in Action Cleveland (JWA CLE), founded as NCJW Cleveland, is a volunteer-powered, professionally supported organization that brings people together to create meaningful change in Northeast Ohio. Through hands-on community engagement, advocacy, education, retail initiatives and connection, JWA CLE gives volunteers opportunities to turn their values into action, support the community and make a tangible difference in the lives of women, children and families.

For more than 100 years, Jewish Women in Action Cleveland, founded as NCJW Cleveland, has brought people together to strengthen our community and improve the lives of women, children and families. Today, JWA CLE carries that legacy forward by mobilizing volunteers, developing leaders, providing educational opportunities, advocating on issues that affect our community and partnering with organizations throughout Northeast Ohio to address community needs and create positive change.
Our programs and initiatives include:
- Building Bridges with Books: Promotes literacy and access to books for children throughout Greater Cleveland through volunteer-led programs and community partnerships.
- Share What You Wear: Provides clothing and essential items to children and families experiencing need or crisis, helping ensure everyone can feel comfortable and confident in what they wear.

Advocacy: Educates and mobilizes members to speak out on issues affecting women, children and families and to help create meaningful change at the local and state levels.
- Education: Offers programs and learning opportunities that inform, engage and connect members around issues affecting our community and inspire meaningful action.
- Community service and partnerships: Connects volunteers with a wide range of hands-on opportunities and nonprofit partners to respond to needs throughout Greater Cleveland.
- Retail initiatives: Through Thriftique Showroom and Designer Dress Days, JWA CLE gives new life to donated clothing, accessories and home goods while engaging volunteers and generating resources to support the organization’s work in the community.
